DAVID JAMES MCHAFFIE

David was a hard-working Cardiology Registrar, Wellington Hospital 1975 - 1976 
He then travelled to the UK on a MRC Overseas Travelling Fellowship.   He was Fellow and Honorary Lecturer in Medicine, Charing Cross Hospital Medical School, London 1975 - 1977.
David was Fellow and then locum Senior Registrar, Cardiac Department, Brompton Hospital 1977 - 1978

He returned to Wellington in 1978 to be Senior Lecturer, Department of Medicine, Wellington Clinical School and Cardiologist, Wellington Hospital.  David continued in these roles until 2005, when he confined his activities to Cardiology out-patient clinics at Kenepuru Hospital.

David's strength was in the teaching of clinical medicine.  His committment to the Cardiology Department in Wellington was always strong, and he played a major role in developing the echocardiography service.
