Fiona gained her cardiology training as Cardiology Registrar at Green Lane Hospital 1988-89 and again 1990-1992.
There followed one year in the UK working as a senior Medical Registrar.
In January 1993, Fiona took up a Locum Cardiologist position at Wellington Hospital, remaining there until the end of that year.
She then returned to Auckland, was Locum Cardiologist at Auckland Hospital for four months and part-time Physician in Obstetric Medicine at National Women's Hospital. From 1994-1998 Fiona was Clinical Senior Research Fellow, Department of Medicine, University of Auckland.
Since May 2000, she has been a Cardiologist with the Auckland Heart Group and since 2001, Fiona has been part-time Cardiologist, Green Lane Hospital.
