Came to NZ with family in 1897 HS/HP, Dunedin Hospital Went to England for postgraduate studies. Joined RAMC 1914, and served in France In 1918, still with the RAMC, he was posted to India. Honorary Visiting Surgeon, Wellington Hospital 1924 - 1940 Visiting Surgeon, Wellington Hospital 1940 - 1949 Major interest and expertise in colorectal surgery Upon his retirement, the David Whyte prize in Clinical Surgery for final year medical students, was established in his honour.
