Educated at Auckland Grammar School HS / HP, Palmerston North Hospital 1936 Postgraduate training in London until outbreak of WW2 Joined the RAMC and saw service at Dunkirk. Sent by the NZ Army to be trained in plastic surgery, working under Sir Harold Gillies and Sir Archibald McIndoe. Post-war, further PG training in London.
