Initial education at Piu Ching High School in Canton. After the Japanese occupation of Guangzhou province, the family moved to Hong Kong where David continued his schooling until aged 17yrs. In 1950 the Fung family emigrated to New Zealand and David went to Wellington Technical College where he gained School Certificate, UE and was dux. From there he went to Otago to study medicine. David had a special interest in both epilepsy and migraine.
