Educated at Otago Boys High School HS / HP, Wellington Hospital 1943 WW2 service with the NZMC in Italy and in the Pacific HS, Wellington Hospital 1/7/1946 - 1947. During this time, he became the first Anaesthetic HS at the hospital.
