1987 saw the appointment of the first specialty-trained paediatric surgeon, Kevin Pringle. He and subsequent appointees brought special skills to this area including surgery for underweight newborns.
Brendon Bowkett was appointed in 1999 (qv) followed by Toni-Maree Wilson, Paul Jackson and Professor Mark Stringer.
