Trained in Melbourne and Perth.  

Senior Registrar, Paediatric Surgery, Wellington Hospital 1998, working alongside John McIlwaine.

General and Urological paediatric surgeon, Wellington Hospital 1999 - current

Introduced laparoscopic paediatric surgery to Wellington and developed a new operation to help incontinent children.

Lead the clinical description of  trauma pathology with clinical correlations following blunt trauma.

Developed strong links and  direct support with East Timor and its National Hospital  lead  the reconstruction of the national  child surgery programme there for  over 20 years. Lead multiple team visits with Wellington specialists and nurses to Timor.

Introduced under 1000g abdominal operations as a regular and successful procedure to the Neonatal Unit in Wellington including under 1000g surgery for oesophageal atresia.

Involved in successful  national lobbying in the processes that lead to under 5 free care and the introduction of funded rotavirus and chicken pox vaccination nationally. Has an academic appointment and lead in the development of innovative computer module teaching for paediatric staff.

Developed an easy access program for parent education that promotes child safety and injury prevention.
