Emma (pictured) has been acting in the role since January and, prior to that, was director of nursing primary and community.
“We are very appreciative to Emma for stepping in to act in this role, and congratulate her on being appointed to the role permanently,” Julie said.
“Nurses and midwives are the backbone of our workforce, and are vital in the delivery of health services – both in a hospital and community setting – and I am pleased that they will continue to receive the support and leadership she has provided since the start of this year.”
Originally from the UK, Emma joined the DHB around 18 years ago. Since then her roles have included preceptor educator, charge nurse manager, and educator lecturer. She also spent 18 months managing Hutt Valley DHB’s community nursing services before returning to CCDHB.
“I’m delighted to have been appointed to the Chief Nursing Officer role on a permanent basis, and to have been given the opportunity to support our nurses and midwives,” Emma said.
“Together with nurses and midwives, I will be focussing on equity and safe quality care – working to ensure that everyone across our communities can access the best possible health outcomes and have a positive experience with our services.”
