A new report from the Burn Registry of Australia & New Zealand (BRANZ) has made a timely release ahead of the festive season.
The report, focused on Holiday Burns, shows that around 50 people are burnt on Christmas day and New Year’s Eve/Day each year.
Almost half of these people are aged twenty to fourty-nine and over two-thirds are male. Most concerning, over 15% are under five year olds. It also highlights that fire is the most common cause of burns, with Christmas day barbeques and new year campfires.
We encourage you to enjoy the festive season, relax and have fun - but remember to 'be safe, not a statistic'.
